What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic care addresses spinal subluxations. Injuries to the spine and other joints can result in scar tissue. Trauma can be sudden, such as a car accident, or gradual, such as a result of repetitive motion. Chiropractic manipulation helps restore motion and reduces scar tissue, leading to a decrease in swelling and pain. In general, muscular or spine injuries are our field of expertise. If we suspect you have a condition requiring medical attention, we'll refer you to your medical doctor, or we can refer you to one.

Do you offer a free consultation?
If you're unsure if chiropractic care is for you, or have questions about your treatment before beginning, Dr. Dick is available for a no-charge consultation. If you decide to go ahead with chiropractic care, you can usually be seen on the same visit.

What should I expect on my first visit?
First, a detailed health history is taken. New patients require an orthopedic, chiropractic, neurological, muscular, and postural exam. None of these is painful or invasive. These exams help us determine if chiropractic care is appropriate. X-Rays of the affected area are taken, if necessary. Not all patients are x-rayed. If there is concern for possible fracture, we'll refer you to a hospital or your primary health care provider. Patients are given their first chiropractic adjustment on the first visit. The first visit lasts about an hour, and subsequent ones last about 15 minutes.

How many treatments do I need?
This is a common question. This office does not engage in high pressure tactics. Dr. Dick will give you an estimate of how many treatments may be needed depending on your condition; it's then up to you to follow through. Of course, an estimate is just that. Your amount of care may vary.

Will my insurance cover chiropractic care?
Many insurance plans in the state of Washington cover chiropractic care. We will check on your coverage at the time of your first office visit, and will bill the insurance weekly by computer.

A few final words . . .
We strive to help anyone who could benefit from chiropractic care. Please feel free to call Dr. Dick or schedule a no-obligation consultation. We welcome your questions. An informed patient knows what to expect.
